![]() ![]() I found it is not as bad as I thought it would be. Water pump 1.jpgGood work doing it yourself. Ended up being a oil filter housing seal that would’ve taken me for about $3,000.00+ or so. I haven’t had any issues as of yet aside from an oil leak back in November that the dealer took care of under warranty. Currently on stage 1 iE tune and stage 2 TCU tune through them as well. Water pump 1.jpgAppreciate the heads up on this, current owner of the same car as you and this’ll truly come in handy. I replaced the oil housing myself $200'ish - no more oil leaks either. I also replaced the oil housing filter.but that's for another thread - bottom line, I was told by the dealership that it was a RMS leak, a $7k job. Big thanks to Audi Gilbert ( ) for the best prices and assistance getting what I needed. After the job was complete, no more leaks, low coolant indications or puddles in the last 24 hours. I replaced it anyway, along with the tstat. The coolant shut-off valve had significant coolant staining, but it appeared not to be cracked. That gasket is suppose to be on the inside (see image below). I do want to say that I was a bit surprised when I got the water pump off. (I'll write up a DIY on what I did and share it once it's written). I never got into the engine compartment this in depth before, but it wasn't my first rodeo in terms of getting elbow deep in other cars. I decided to tackle the job myself and replace all three at the same time. ![]() Any one of these or combination could be the culprit. In my mind, it could have been a number of issues causing the leak ranging from the water pump, to the thermostat to the coolant shut-off valve, etc. The S5 wasn't overheating or anything, but it was being a pain in the arse to top off the coolant resevoir every 3-4 days not to mention a puddle of coolant on the garage floor. Over the past six weeks, I've experienced a low coolant level indicator on the B9. I want to share an experience regarding my 2018 S5 SB (B9) coolant leak / water pump failure. ![]()
